When I was at home Kara, the queen of baby carriers showed me her Mei Tai (an Asian style baby carrier). I too decided I wanted a Mei Tai so I went online and was disappointed in the prices.... too spensive for my tastes. So I decided to make one myself. There are quite a few patterns online. I found this super sweet fabric at Walmart and bought some batting too. In total my baby carrier cost $14 in materials and about 3 days to sew, during nap times of course. I kinda used this pattern http://www.bradley-etheridge.com/MaeMeiTai.htm but I didn't have enough fabric so I tweaked it some to fit what I had. Here is a picture of my Mae Mei Tai baby carrier. I even varied the way I put her in it and she nursed herself to sleep and then I was completely hands free to eat dinner and clip her finger nails...it was great!

you are so creative. I love it! okay...have you ever seen a hooter hider?? thats what i call them. they're basically a cover for nursing but they have a strap and boning sewn into the top seam so you can see what's going on underneath...does that make sense?? you can buy them, but they're super easy to make...i have directions if you're interested...
