Brushin' Teeth

Ansley turned 13 months today. She is getting so big. I had to get her some new pjs today. Thank goodness for Once Upon a Child. I got some for $2.50 each. It was super sweet. I had to get her new shoes too. She's in a 4-5 shoe. She's 23 lbs. and 28 1/2 inches tall. She says some words and her first phrase is Hi dad! She hisses when she sees any animal... its really funny. She's really starting to get a sense of humor lately. She would look at the ceiling this morning and then I would and she would laugh. While we were out she got her first lollipop which I regret giving to her cause her tongue turned purple and she was suppose to go to bed soon after. So we pulled out the tooth brush in hopes that she would get some of the purple out of her mouth. She did a pretty good job of drooling it onto her jammies. She's such a ham in front of the camera.

Good Example

We went to Dayton, Ohio last weekend for an amazing adventure of a trip. Levin's best friend from back home got baptized and married back to back. We couldn't miss this momentous event. I had never been to the midwest before but rather enjoyed the slightly rolling hills and the Joann's that were scattered about ;) No really its a beautiful area. Matt Palmer grew up with Levin and the two of them gave their teachers a run for their money. They were both good kids but we'll just say Matt had a bit of a wild streak. Levin had talked to Matt about the church and had always hoped his good example had made an impact on Matt. Well when Matt called Levin a few weeks ago and said we gotta talk, Levin thought the worst and never expected to hear what Matt had to say! Matt had met a girl...not just any girl...a mormon girl ;) This girl Connie was trying to get her life in order and wasn't sure this wild airforce guy was right for her but ended up giving him a pity date and the rest is history. Matt found out what church she went to and was so excited! I want to go to church he said and you have to meet my friend Levin. Connie told me that they were out with some friends, she was sitting behind just watching while Matt was about his usual affairs and he could tell she was uncomfortable and unhappy. He came over to her and said I'm done and at that point he changed his life. He realized that all that "fun stuff" he had done before had never really given him happiness and that Connie was the key to his eternal happiness. Matt was baptized Friday, June 19, 2009 a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by his best bud Levin. The next day Saturday, June 20, 2009 they were married with high hopes of being sealed together forever in a year's time. They have known each other for so short a time but you can tell they are made for each other and it is no accident that they met and are now together. They have a tough road ahead but I know they can remain faithful. We had such an amazing time getting to know Connie and spending time with Matt. It was good to also meet Matt's grandparents who drove up from Greenville and of course to see Grandma Gunter who hitched a ride up for the occasion. Moral of the story...you never know who is watching and what effect the example you give can have in their life!

Walking

Ansley started walking today. I mean she has taken a few steps here or there but today as the day progressed she got better and better. We finally captured it on film. She would take some steps, we would get the camera and then nada. Here she is in her walking debut.

Isle of Palms

Mary, Levin's adorable cousin and her adorable friend Amy came into town this weekend so they could go to the beach. It was cloudy and rainy everywhere in Charleston except at the beach! It was a gorgeous day for the beach. Ansley loved the water and playing in the sand with her uncle Sam. It wasn't quite like the beautiful Hawaiian beaches but it was very relaxing and beautiful in its own way. I do miss the crystal clear blue waters. While we were there I unfortunately burned the middle of my back because I'm an idiot. I put sunscreen on my shoulders 'cause that's normally what gets burned bad and you can see the streaks where I stopped the sunscreen coverage. Ansley, thank goodness was well covered and did not burn at all. I'm gonna have to fix her swim suit. The belly showing is just out of control ;) Please excuse my whiteness I know its blinding. I will definitely have to take her back to the beach.

Happy Birthday Ansley

Ansley turned one on May 29th and to our surprise she cried at all of her three birthday parties when we sang her happy birthday. I don't know if it was everyone looking at her or if it was the fiery candles or if it is just the phrase happy birthday. Here are snippets of the videos. I'm working on a smilebox coming soon. There were just too many cute pictures to shift through.
